Dad’s ex-girlfriend’s grandma’s 14-year-old cat reunites with the daughter after 7 years apart, and recognizes her as if no time has passed at all: 'She immediately went to sit on my lap'

Even though we have been cat owners for many, many years, every single time that we go on a slightly longer than usual vacation, we find ourselves worried - a tiny bit - that our cats will forget about us. We know they won't. We know that our bond with our cats is so strong that even a truly long break wouldn't remove their memories of us. And yet… the concern does cross our minds. And then we see a story like this - a reuinion between a cat and a person, and our worries disappear. 

After seven whole years apart, this person reunites with their cat. The cat never belonged to them in the first place, it was someone else's cat that they bonded with, and the connection between them and that someone else broke. But now, things are coming together again, and the happiest part of it all? The cat clearly remembers this person. You only need to read about their first meeting to know that for a fact. No worries necessary.

    Ms. Kitty is my dad's Ex Girlfriends grandmas cat (a mouthful, I know.) when I was little, I would spend a lot of time at her house & Ms kitty would always be there. After my dad & his gf broke up, I stopped going to her house sadly.

    Well, after all these years, I'm finally back here as an opportunity to bond with my younger sister, & Ms Kitty is still here!!! She's getting old & raggedy now, but she's still the sweet, tiny baby I remember her being. I thought you guys would like to see her.

  • We think that this is the ultimate piece of proof that we can give to people who think that cats don't care about humans. Of course they do. If this cat didn't, she wouldn't have come rushing back to her childhood friend, she wouldn't have remembered, and she certainly wouldn't have instantly sat down on her.

  • She does. We are sure that she does. You can tell, instantly, if there is recognition in their little faces. You know when they remember you. Her coming to sit down on your was an extra thing - a way for her to make sure that you knew she remembered you.

    Then Ad8799 OP I'm here again because my dads ex gf came in contact with my family so I can bond with my sister again since I haven't seen her since she was a toddler. They live in a different state now but my sister is visiting her grandmas house so I am able to see her.
